Worth the Wait?

It's been while, for all concerned, when it comes to my writing endeavors. Luckily there's no one waiting with bated breath, or they'd have long since expired. However, having held my own in moments lately I thought it time to share some poetry.

I'm sure what number I'm at, but I'll be adding this to my collection of sonnets:

A Long Weekend

The days have not stretched on, like this, for years.
They do now due to this new sensation
This stretching of my breath in blood and tears
That aims to break this incarceration,
This pink prison that keeps me far from you.
My capillaries longing construction:
Highways, byways, slicing obstacles through,
Time and space bent to my own compulsion
Of wanting to find my rest in your arms
But the brain signals other needs and sends
Thoughts and dreams to slow these new courses’ charms
And my breath is spent when my typing ends.
My heart beats as I lay alone again
With an odd jackhammer pulsing; “When, when…”
